Peas & Beans Weed Control Solutions
Over a number of years the choice of herbicides to use in legume crops has diminished. Older products containing active ingredients such as simazine and trifluralin are no longer available. In addition the choice of post-emergence weed control is restricted to just bentazone (as in Basagran SG). For this reason the best approach for weed control in legume crops is to use a broad-spectrum pre-emergence option.

Products for post-emergence weed control in field beans
Basagran SG
Whilst pre-emergence control of weeds is preferable in beans, there are some situations which may require a post-emergence application of herbicide. In this situation the only option is using Basagran SG.
Growers should be aware however there are guidelines around the use of bentazone.
Full details of these guidelines can be found at the north_east Voluntary Initiative website
