Filan® is a protectant and systematic fungicide for use in oilseed rape for the control of Sclerotinia stem rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) and dark leaf and pod spot (Alternaria brassicae). A reduction in phoma leaf spot and stem canker (Leptosphaeria maculans) infection may also be obtained.
Time after time Filan has proven to be reliable against Sclerotinia, as recently demonstrated in a high disease Herefordshire AHDB fungicide performance trial in 2017, where fungicide persistence was really put to the test.
However, when it comes to Filan, there are other benefits to consider. It’s a key resistance management tool for light leaf spot; it has been proven to add 0.2t/ha in the absence of visible disease; and is a safe tank mix partner for pyrethroids at flowering.
Light leaf spot resistance management
Targeting light leaf spot (LLS) before stem extension is important to keep it off the upper canopy, but later in the year it’s critical to consider resistance management. LLS is polycyclic throughout the life of the crop and reduced sensitivity to azoles has been found. Given that LLS spores will still be present at flowering, it’s important to consider different modes of action to triazoles, such as boscalid.
Yield increase in the absence of visible disease
OSR leaves are twice as photosynthetically active as stems or pods and extensive ADAS research has shown that by maximising green leaf area & duration (GLAD), yield is increased. ADAS trials in 2017 confirmed that Filan® increases GLAD. Filan® contains boscalid, which reduces levels of the stress hormone ethylene, therefore making leaves greener for longer. For years we’ve seen this positive yield effect in the absence of visible disease, with a large database of 46 trials showing +0.2t/ha yield from Filan®

Filan® can be used as a tank mix partner and is safe to mix with pyrethroids at flowering. Note: *‘Safe’ still means the mix should still only be sprayed when bees are not actively foraging. Also, if seed weevil control needed at late flowering, do not tank mix pyrethroid with triazoles.
Disease pressure performance
Filan® - performs under high disease pressure. There is good activity at lower doses, which is important for field performance – demonstrates persistence and compensates for poor coverage lower down in the canopy.
