Spring Cereal PGR programmes
Seasonal Update:
Spring 2019 is proving to be a very different season to 2018. A dry establishment period for spring barley and dry start has moved to wetter weather in May. Moisture will mean crop growth will now be strong and crops may want to grow through stem extension quickly meaning these stems could become ‘leggy’ and weak.
Where lodging risk is higher due to good crop growth a PGR programme will give the best insurance against lodging risk. A programmed approach will give the best chance for anchorage development, stem strengthening as well as internode shortening. If lodging risk is high, a programmed PGR approach is the best policy.
The trial below highlights the yield benefits of using Canopy® in a program versus trinexapac.
