Canopy® at T1

How and why to use Canopy® at T1 this season

Key Messages

  • Difficult autumn conditions have left different types of crop establishment to deal with
    • Late and very late drilled crops which were slow to establish and have roots that sat in wet conditions throughout the winter. These crops will have fewer tillers and poor root structure, so a PGR will help to maintain the tillers that are growing, reducing the dominance of the main stem and helping to increase the root plate spread.
    • Early drilled crops that were established mid to late September before the heavy rain will be looking forward and potentially thick and in need of PGR management to ensure root lodging risk is reduced.
  • A programmed approach to PGRs is the most consistent way to create both optimal crop canopy structure and ear/tiller numbers for yield.
  • Canopy® combines quick uptake and prolonged duration of activity that works in cool, cloudy conditions.

Why Canopy® at T1?

Canopy® has two key active ingredients (prohexadione-calcium and mepiquat chloride) which complement each other to provide quick uptake into the plant to give immediate activity and then a prolonged duration of activity part to provide long lasting effect.

Reliable, proven performance

Two ADAS PGR trials from 2014 showed Canopy® gave better lower stem strength traits which resulted in better yield.

We do not know what weather lies ahead, remember the conditions last season, dry at T1 but then heavy rain and lodging later in the season. Protect what you have with a proven PGR product like Canopy®.

Canopy® will:

  • Be immediately available within the plant to provide instant PGR effects
  • Give timing flexibility with activity at lower temperatures (active from 5oC)
  • Be active independent from sunlight requirements
  • Give long lasting activity
