Vizura

Vizura® is a nitrification inhibitor for use with slurry and liquid biogas digestate waste. Vizura® improves the nitrogen use efficiency of slurry and digestate and increases yield by reducing nitrogen losses from nitrate leaching and nitrous oxide to the atmosphere.

Benefits

Reduction in nitrogen losses by delaying the conversion of ammonium into nitrate

Reduction in nitrate leaching and potential loss to drainage water

Reduction in damaging nitrous oxide emissions

Increased nitrogen availability can benefit plant physiology, with improved yields and crop quality

Active ingredient(s)50 g/l 3,4-dimethyl-1H-Pyrazol (in the form of its monophosphate, approx 174 g/l)
FormulationSoluble concentrate (SL)
Pack size10 litres in outers of two
CropsAll crops to which slurry and liquid biogas digestate waste is applied
ActivityDelay in the conversion of ammonium to nitrate
Rate and timing of use: all applications late summer and autumn and when slurry or liquid digestate is incorporated to a depth of over 20 cm (e.g. ploughing)3.0 litres per hectare
Rate and timing of use: when slurry or liquid digestate is incorporated to a depth of 0-20 cm in the spring (e.g. trailing hose, trailing shoe or soil groove technique) as well as direct incorporation by cultivator or disc harrow2.0 litres per hectare

Why Vizura?

Significant amounts of nitrogen are lost during and after the spreading of slurry and digestate. This nitrogen can be lost as ammonia and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere or through nitrate leaching. By delaying the conversion of ammonium into nitrate, Vizura® reduces nitrogen losses from nitrate leaching and can reduce nitrous oxide emissions by 50%.

BASF trials have also show significant improvements in crop yield and quality:
