Reflecting on our 2025 Demo Days

With harvest well underway in many parts of the country, we’re taking a moment to reflect on our annual BASF Demo Days, which took place across five sites from Yorkshire to Somerset.

Once again, these events have proven to be a standout moment in our calendar - a valuable opportunity to gather growers, agronomists and industry partners in the field to exchange knowledge, see new innovations in action and, come together to catch up and reconnect over a cup of tea and locally-sourced food.

Hosted by five fantastic farmers who generously opened their gates, each Demo Day reflected local conditions and questions, giving everyone a clear look at how our trial plots performed this season and a chance to talk through what it means for their own farms. Across the country, we saw excellent attendance, with many visitors also using the day to top up their BASIS and NRoSO points.

A highlight at every site was the winter wheat variety tour, run by our regional Agronomy Managers in partnership with industry experts. Walking through side-by-side plots gave those joining us a chance to compare different varieties under local conditions, discuss disease resistance traits, and see how our cereal fungicides are performing. Many growers were particularly interested in how Revystar® XE and our new solution RevyPro® were delivering disease control in both wheat and barley plots. We look forward to sharing some highlights with you soon.

At the Luximoment of Proof stand, attendees got hands-on with live black-grass and Italian ryegrass samples and explored how Luximo® fits into a broader IPM strategy to tackle these grassweeds.

But Demo Days aren’t just about cereals. Across all sites, our team of experts were on hand to talk through blight resistance management, Revystar® XE in sugar beet and the extra value Limus® urease inhibitor can deliver for nitrogen use.

It’s no surprise that many growers tell us the peer-to-peer conversations are what make Demo Days so worthwhile. Standing together in the field, comparing plots and swapping experiences about what’s worked, and what hasn’t, is how good ideas spread and small changes turn into real improvements back on farm.

Naturally, the weather gave everyone plenty to talk about too. Despite its usual mix of surprises, we were lucky to see plenty of sunshine this year. With an early harvest on the cards for many, it was encouraging to hear how growers are adapting and planning ahead.

At BASF, we believe collaboration is key to tackling the challenges farming faces - whether that’s managing grassweed resistance, using inputs wisely or adapting to unpredictable seasons. Our Demo Days are a part of this. By bringing people together in the field, we can share knowledge, test ideas and build partnerships that keep our innovation focused on what growers need most.

To everyone who joined us, thank you. We appreciate you taking time out of busy schedules to walk the plots, share your experiences and ask the questions that guide the work we do and the solutions we deliver.

In the meantime, if you’d like to re-visit any of the topics covered at Demo Days or have feedback to share, please do get in touch with your local BASF representative.
