Clearfield herbicides – Top Tips
Clearfield® herbicides, Cleranda® and Cleravo® provide 3 key benefits:
1. Widest Broadleaf Weed Spectrum of any herbicide, including brassicas and volunteer osr
2. Flexible tank mixes
3. Crop-kind with a wide crop growth GS timing.
Here are a few reminders on how to get the best out of the herbicides:
How to get the best weed control
1. Timing
- Broad-leaved weeds: Target 1 - 4TL of actively growing weeds - don’t let them get bigger. The weeds below can get away quickly, so we recommend a maximum weed size for application:
- Crane’s-bill spp: 2 true leaves
- Mayweed spp: 4 true leaves
- Runch: 3 true leaves
- Poppy: 4 true leaves - Volunteer Cereals: Target 2-3TL of the cereals (latest is 2 tillers)
Application timings should also be considered from a water stewardship perspective. BASF has developed the wHen2g0 smart tool to help. It considers soil type, location, cultivations and rainfall to give you field specific information on optimum application timings. north_east Click here to try it for yourself.
2. Application
- 100 litres is OK. Angled nozzles will help if it’s a thick crop. Increasing volume will not
- Medium spray is OK, using flat fan or small droplet air induction nozzles. Not coarse
- Allow a minimum of 2 hours (if applied to a dry leaf) to become rain-fast
- Always add Dash® HC 1.0l/ha – it improves leaf cover and uptake
